CHANDIGARH/LUDHIANA:In an early morning operation, Punjab Police on Saturday busted an inter-state sex racket active in Ludhiana with arrest of 14 persons including 10 girls alongwith the lady kingpin already on bail in similar case who used to target needy girls out of jobs due to Covid lockdowns from city and outside forcing them into prostitution.

CHANDIGARH: Under a week-long special drive launched against the drug menace, the Punjab Police have arrested 855 drug smugglers/suppliers after registering 672 FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act across the state. The drive commenced on February 25, 2021.

CHANDIGARH: Since the health and wellbeing of the police personnel remains a top priority, the Punjab Police has decided to establish Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) for the Police force in all the districts, including the three Commissionerate Police (CPs) in the state. The Centres are also proposed be set up in all the Armed Police and Police Training Centres.

CHANDIGARH: To ensure the safe and secure cyber world, the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta on Wednesday, announced slew of measures including recruitment of around 200 cyber crime and digital forensic experts and setting-up of Cyber Crime Units in all the districts to deal with rising cybercrimes.

CHANDIGARH: In an early morning operation, the Organised Crime Control Unit of Punjab Police busted a gambling racket active in Mohali district with arrest of 70 persons including 10 women from a city marriage palace on outskirts of Banur besides seizing Rs 8.42 Lakh in cash, 47 vehicles, 40 liquor bottles, playing cards and laptops from the spot.

CHANDIGARH: Ridiculing the demand of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for deployment of Punjab Police to protect the agitating farmers at the borders of the national capital, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Sunil Jakhar, on Saturday said even the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cannot enter a state without permission, and added that, in any case, “Congress was not running an anarchist government in Punjab like Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, where street politics by the ruling party had long replaced real governance.”
